An introduction to the secrets of Provencal cooking, this course lets you discover the delights of Provence and its fragrant herb-scented hills and learn all the secrets of a cuisine prepared with produce from the local Provencal markets. You will cook in a superb old house with its own country garden that provides all the herbs and vegetables used in the fabulous dishes you will prepare and savor by the fireside or in the shade of the garden in the summer. Visits to Sanary and Bandol markets, visits to local vineyards (with wine tasting), plus the fascinating story of Provence as told by Rene Berard -a whole basket of delicious ingredients to fill up your stay. The Hostellerie Berard is an elegant family-run hotel set in the enchanting ancient hilltop village of La Cadiere d'Azur in Provence, dominating the fertile vineyards and orchards of Bandol on one side and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea on the other. The hotel, celebrated for its outstanding haute cuisine, is situated in a lovingly restored 11th century monastery grouped around a heated outdoor swimming pool. Itinerary

Day 1 Depart USA
Overnight flight to Paris. Meals and refreshments served on board.

Day 2 - 4 Paris
Early morning arrival in Paris. You will be transferred by private shuttle to your hotel. Enjoy three full days at leisure in Paris.

Day 5 Paris / Provence
This morning you will to the train station on your own in Paris to catch your TGV train to Marseilles. Upon arrival you will pick up your rental car at the train station and drive to La Cadiere d'Azur and check in at the Hostellerie Berard. Tonight you will have a gourmet welcome dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 - 9 Provence
While at the Hostellerie Berard you will enjoy learning the art of Provencal cooking with the four-day Art de Vivre culinary classes hosted by Master Chef Rene Berard. You will make daily visits to the local markets and do some wine tasting. Also, you will enjoy the tastes of the region with daily lunches included in the package. You will also have plenty of free time to explore the Provence region on your own with your rental car. We recommend visits to Marseilles, Arles, Nimes and, of course, Avignon. Make sure to check out the lavender fields as well.

Day 10 Return to USA (or extend your stay)
After breakfast you will drive your rental car back to the airport in Marseilles to catch your flight back to the USA, arriving the same day.
