Scuba diving from Cape Tribulation off the Daintree Coast is a must do. The Rum Runner is a comfortable sailing catamaran that carries only 44 passengers and can take you from Cape Tribulation to the Great Barrier Reef in less than an hour for a magic day of snorkeling and/or scuba diving. Out on the reef you will see lots of brightly colored fish and corals, sting rays, giant clams, sea turtles, and even some harmless small reef sharks. Some days whales are spotted too that pass through the a |
rea on their way to breeding grounds. Rum Runner's crew will give you informative talks to help you understand and appreciate this eco system even more. Dependent on weather conditions and tides this trip will go to either Undine Reef or Mackay Reef.
Included are; morning tea, afternoon tea, a tropical buffet lunch, informative talks on marine life, snorkel gear, and pick-up and return by bus to Rainforest Hideaway. Other things like underwater cameras, chocolate bars, soft drinks, beer, hats, T-shirts etc. are available for sale on board. Wetsuits are included in the price and prescription masks are available for hire.
The Rum Runner bus will pick you up from Rainforest Hideaway around 07.50 in the morning and take you to Cape Tribulation Beach where a small tender will take you to the boat. The same bus will return you to Rainforest Hideaway around 16.30 in the afternoon. If you are a vegetarian or have any other dietary requirements please inform at the time of booking your reef trip as this will be catered for.
There is a $10.- environmental levy for protection and management of the Great Barrier Reef payable on board.

Day 7 - Today you will transfer back to Cairns airport and head for the cosmopolitan city of Sydney. You will be in this iconic city for 2 nights.

In Sydney you have many tour options available. The first night you show go over to the Shangri-La Hotel, up to the Blu Horizons Bar on the 36th floor. The view from here is amazing in the evening. You can see from the Blue Mountains, to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, to the Sydney Opera House. This is the best view in the city and it’s free (aside from your drinks…Be careful of the 10,000.00 drink!)
Day 8 - Take the day to explore the beautiful city of Sydney. Walk over to the Circular Quay and ride the ferry over to the Taronga Zoo. Take a cruise on the Sydney Harbour and learn about the history of Sydney. Take a tour of the Sydney Opera House. Walk through the rocks district. If you are here on the weekend there will be crafters set up selling their wares. If you adventurous, climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge (an amazing experience!). **This tour must be pre-booked.
Day 9 - Today you will be picked up and taken to the Sydney Airport for you flight to Tasmania. You will arrive in Hobart, pick up your rental car, and have time to explore.
Rental Car – Medium Automatic for Duration of your stay. Insurance not included.
You may wish to overnight in Hobart or Drive the 1 ½ hours down to Port Arthur for your first overnight.
Day 10 – 13 - Driving through Tasmania is a wonderful adventure. Choose a journey that suits you and see the vibrant small cities, the breathtaking coastline and it’s unique wildlife. Be sure to sample the fresh produce, great wine and wonderful food along the way.
You will receive a touring map and an information guide to help you plan where to go and what to see. Freycinet National Park is a remarkable place and will perhaps be the highlight of your trip.

Day 13 - Today you will be in Launceston (Pronounced LAWN SES TON) and have the day to explore this city. Launceston is 3 ½ hours drive from Bicheno Bay. (Just north of Freycinet National Park).
