Day 1 – Christchurch Following your arrival in Christchurch collect your rental car and take some time to explore the city. Take in the famous Cathedral Square, visit the historic Arts Centre and Museum, just across the road take a stroll through the Botanic Gardens, or perhaps just relax at one of the cities many cafes. Tonight you will learn more about Maori culture at a Maori Concert and Dinner.

After exploring the city at little more, head south to the scenic Lake Tekapo in the MacKenzie Country. This journey is approximately three hours long and along the way you will pass by some of the farmland New Zealand is famous for. Along the way you will pass through many beautiful country towns, if time permits allow at stop in Fairlie and visit The Old Library Café, the fare is divine.

Day 3 – Lake Tekapo – Queenstown Departing Lake Tekapo head further south enjoying more outstanding scenery. It will take a little over 3 hours to drive to Queenstown, but you will find many locations along the way to stop for photos. Once in Queenstown take some time to explore the town and what it has to offer, take a walk through some of the fabulous shopping areas, and perhaps stop off at some of the many cafes and bars. Great place to buy handknitted sweaters.

Included in your activities for today, a cruise on the TSS Earnslaw over to the Walter Peak farm, the tour includes a scenic cruise, morning or afternoon tea, a farm tour and a cruise back across the lake. The rest of the day is at your leisure, the activity options are endless, rafting, jet boating, horse riding, Lord of the Rings tours, gondola rides, the list goes on. Let us know your preference and we can book you in to your pick, to avoid disappointment.

Day 5 – Milford Sound Today take the day exploring Milford Sound aboard a guided tour from your Queenstown accommodation. The tour takes in the some outstanding scenery aboard a luxury coach and included a cruise the length of the fiord offering a unique opportunity to get up close to some of New Zealand native wildlife.

Day 6 – Queenstown – Franz Josef Depart Queenstown for the 7 hour drive through Haast Pass to Franz Josef on the west coast. The area is famous for its glaciers and the drive up there takes in some panoramic views of the mountains that were once formed by similar great glaciers. Few sights come close to the giant tongues of ice that are slowly forcing their way down through the rainforested slopes. New Zealand is the only place in the world outside of Argentina where glaciers come down to such a low altitude (only 250 metres above sea level), making them very assessable to visitors.

Day 7 – Franz Josef – Greymouth – Christchurch After exploring the glacier and its surrounds, drive north for approximately 2.5 hours to the town of Greymouth. In the early afternoon board the famous Tranz Alpine train for a journey through the heart of the Southern Alps into Christchurch. This train journey is rated as one of the top 5 train journeys in the world.

Day 8 – Christchurch Explore Christchurch before your transfer to the airport for your flight home. |
